In the world of loaders and loader parts, you may come across parts labeled as rebuilt or remanufactured. What is the difference between the two? Does it make a difference in the performance of your machines? Here at Loader Parts Source, we pride ourselves in offering a variety of remanufactured parts. With that, we want to make sure our clients understand the difference between rebuilt vs remanufactured parts. In this blog, we will discuss what makes remanufacturing different from rebuilding.

What Can Be Remanufactured? Find Out Here

Remanufactured Parts

Remanufacturing makes sure that the finished product works just as well if not better than a brand-new part. All areas of the part are thoroughly cleaned and inspected to ensure not even the smallest crack is left unfixed. Any pieces of the part that are worn or damaged in any way are replaced with brand new pieces. Once the part has had all the worn and broken pieces replaced, it is reassembled and tested to the standards of the original manufacturer. Then, the remanufactured parts are reinstalled with a new warranty.

Rebuilt Parts

Rebuilt parts also go through a process of cleaning and inspection. With rebuilt parts, any pieces that are heavily worn or damaged are replaced or repaired if possible. Wear that is acceptable to the manufacturer’s standard is allowed to be kept. These worn areas will still function properly but may not meet the standards of a brand-new part. Because not all worn pieces are replaced, this can lead to the part having uneven wear throughout, which can then lead to the premature breakdown of the part when compared to parts that have even wear throughout.

Similarities

While there are many differences between rebuilding and remanufacturing, there are some similarities between the processes. Both take used or broken parts and return them to a usable condition. Both are environmentally-friendly practices by keeping large amounts of waste out of landfills. For the consumer, both rebuilt and remanufactured parts can be considerably cheaper than brand new parts.

Find Your Remanufactured Parts with LPS

When it comes to your loader, you want to make sure you get the best parts possible to keep it running like new for a long time. When you are looking to replace a part on your loader you may come across rebuilt and remanufactured parts, but it is important that you remember the difference between the two. Remanufactured parts will last longer and run like a new part would. While a rebuilt part will work, it won’t last as long, and the performance will not be the same as a new part.
